I remember when Dad used to do a lot of work for the Society for Mentally Handicapped Children, which included organising a sponsored walk around Battlebridge sports ground track. Now most people would simply set up a desk to monitor the laps of the track. But not John Plowman! Many hours were spent in the shed at 37 creating colour coded signage and posts to mark each lap along with matching colour coded participants. Of course, proceedings went like clockwork with Dad ensuring that every single lap for every single participant was recorded with 100% accuracy. That was the mark of the man!
